My secret second life

Posted by on in Blog | 0 comments

HeartIt has to be a short post today, you guys.

I have a couple of irons in the fire that need tending to this week.  And one of the irons has to do with my secret, second professional life.

In addition to launching my sliding scale clinic, Counseling South Austin, I’m doing a big talk this week and I need every spare moment I’ve got to prepare for that.

The talk is about helping therapists grow their practices with integrity.

Y’know, instead of using marketing techniques that feel sales-y or gross.

(Yuck.)

Especially if it’s gross marketing coming from a therapist— double yuck.

That’s another aspect of my business, in addition to working with people-pleasers in private practice.

I guess it’s not a secret, not really.

It might be a surprise to you, though, because I don’t write about it here at all.

But I really do love helping therapists grow their practices!

And I also have a passion for helping counseling interns prepare for life after internship.

I really enjoy the teaching and mentoring that comes with that work.  It’s a lot of fun.

But what does this have to do with you?

hopeful ladderWell, the issue of integrity is a big one—whether you’re building a private practice or not.

So, in the spirit of the talk, here’s something small for you to consider:

Living and working from a heartfelt, honest place is one of the biggest pleasures in life.

But sometimes we get pulled in different directions—where we struggle to hold boundaries or struggle to make time for ourselves, and we get stuck and frustrated and burned out.

Today’s post is a gentle push.

Do you feel like you’re living from a place of integrity?

Are you living a life you feel proud of?

If you see something that you’d like to change, to bring your life back into alignment with your values and dreams, maybe now’s the time. Don’t you think?

I’ll be back next week with a more in depth post about living from a place of integrity.
